The citation
Most people who manage a team in West Yorkshire were promoted because they were good at the job they were doing before. Beyond Learning calls them accidental managers, which is accurate and unusually honest for a training company.
Management Essentials is the Guide’s course of the month because of its shape rather than its syllabus. It starts before the room: delegates complete a management competencies self-assessment so they arrive knowing what they want to fix. It runs over three days spaced about a fortnight apart, so there is time to try something at work and come back with the result. And it ends with a one-to-one session that turns the notebook into an action plan.
That structure is what separates training that changes a Monday morning from training that was an enjoyable day out. The content is the practical end of management: running a useful one-to-one, giving feedback that lands, setting goals people can act on, delegating without abandoning, and keeping a team accountable without policing it.
